Jerusalem Road was recorded during time as artist in residence at the Art Institute of Beer Sheva, which has since become part of Ben Gurion University. The road toward Jerusalem begins in Beer Sheva, detours south to through arid desert , passing a high security prison protected by barbed wire, and up to the watch tower overlooking Mitspe Rimon, an oasis before the wasteland, mostly populated by Ethiopian immigrants. By the time we got to Jerusalem it had already been flooded, water gushing down the streets, impossible to wade through, carrying all of the religious icons and symbols in a heavy torrent to heal the scorched earth of the dry valleys below. |
